Today we had an appointment with Dr. Cole, an allergist at Altanta Allergy and Asthma. He was such a nice man with a major southern accent. He gave us useful information on Max's allergy to cow's milk. He said if he were going to have an allergy he would choose milk because it has about an 80% chance of going away by the time a child is 6. It sometimes goes into teenage years but most likely it will not stick with Max for his entire life; but it could. He wants to recheck for the allergy in a year. So we shall see. That's good news! He also said he can usually cover his eyes and answer these questions when a baby Max's age comes in to his office with an allergy to milk..."Does he have excema, check" "Do one or both parents have the allergy, check" "Does he have asthma or wheezing, check" so he was surprised to hear that the answer to all three questions was no and took that as a pretty good sign for the future. So, we now have a pretty long list of big word ingredients to look out for when feeding Max. It will take some getting used to but we will figure things out and Max will lead a healthy, normal, happy, and allergic reaction free life if I have anything to do with it!
I just want to say what an AMAZING and SUPPORTIVE husband and father Scott has been through all of this. Although he has work obligations, he never misses a doctor's appointment. He is right there waiting for us when we arrive; sometimes with all the paper work filled out and turned in before we even get inside. I know he does it because he loves and worries about us and because he is just that kind of a good guy! Max couldn't love him more and neither could I. The look on Max's face when I say "Daddy's home" everyday is precious. He gets so excited and crawls or cruises as fast as his chubby legs can carry him to see his daddy and hug him and play with him.
